  21. I love the Newton. You won't like the MP100 much unless y ou also
  22. get a 2 meg PCMCIA RAM card for it (another $100 or so).

  24. I use the little thing daily and carry it with me everywhere. 
  25. Since I don't own a Mac, the Newton was the #1 rreason I got
  26. Shapeshifter going on my 1200.. with it, I can download and
  27. install software onto the Newton and there is a ton of it out
  28. there of all description. (I use the Lunatech PDA pkg downloader).

  30. You might also want to buy Graffiti, the 3rd party handwriting
  31. recognition package from Palm Computing (now owned by USRobotics).
  32. The 1.3 OS HWR is not the best (much improved in the new 2.0 OS)
  33. and can be frustrating to use. Graffiti is the best. You can 
  34. write as fast as  you can and if you learn Graffiti's penstrokes
  35. (might take an hour at most) you'll get nearly error-free
  36. text entry.

  38. I wouldn't use a 1.3 Newton without it.

  40. The Mp100 is also a bit battery hungry - it uses four AAAs which 
  41. pack a lot less juice than the AAs which the newer models use.
  42. So don't go anywhere without spare batteries, or pick up the
  43. Newton AC adaptor (it's tiny) too for about $30.

  50. ps to the Amiga faithful.. yes I know, Mr. Sinclair-Day is 
  51. an Amiga-hater, so please don't hate me too much for replying
  52. to him :) but since he wants to get a Newton, he can't be
  53. all bad.  I've owned a Newton since last Summer and the Newton
  54. community reminds me a LOT of the earlier Amiga community in
  55. many ways.
